program note
Noyz in th' 'Hood is in a blues–rock style with a rap shuffle thrown in for good measure. It is a celebration of all the Deep Purple, Led Zepplin, Status Quo, The Who and Jimi Hendrix to which I spent the larger part of my youth headbanging. It was premiered by Jim Nightingale and Kerry Yong, and awarded the Heinz Harant Prize for best new Australian Composition at the 1998 Sydney Classical Saxophone Convention.

review
"This work,
Noyz in th' 'Hood, for tenor saxophone and piano is a well–crafted work with immediate audience appeal and is certainly a wonderful addition to the tenor repertoire."
Mark Walton, Australian Clarinet and Saxophone, June 1998
